Epic Universe, Universal Orlando’s highly-anticipated new theme park, will officially open to the public on May 22, the company announced Thursday.
The park will open just ahead of the busy Memorial Day weekend, confirming reports from earlier this week that the company was targeting an early summer debut.
It will be the largest park at the Orlando resort, joining Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay water park.
The first round of park tickets will go on sale Oct. 22, with only vacation packages and multi-day tickets that include one day at Epic being available. Universal Orlando passholders will be able to buy one-day tickets for Epic Universe on Oct. 24, before they go on sale to the general public.
Additional ticket options, including one-day tickets for the the general public, will be available in the months ahead of the park’s grand opening.
Helios Grand Hotel, the new 500-room hotel next to Epic Universe, will open reservations on Oct. 22 for stays beginning May 22, 2025. It will have its own dedicated entrance into the park for hotel guests.
Epic Universe will be the first new theme park in Orlando since Islands of Adventure in 1999. It will feature five themed “worlds” that visitors can explore, including Celestial Park, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Dark Universe and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic.
“This is such a pivotal moment for our destination, and we’re thrilled to welcome guests to Epic Universe next year,” Universal Orlando president Karen Irwin said in a news release. “With the addition of this spectacular new theme park, our guests will embark on an unforgettable vacation experience with a week’s worth of thrills that will be nothing short of epic.”
Each world will include a variety of attractions, entertainment, dining and shopping experiences.
Celestial Park will be the central hub of the park and include a space-themed coaster called Stardust Racers and portals to the other themed worlds.
Super Nintendo World will feature attractions based on the video game characters, including Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and Mine-Cart Madness. Similar versions of the land are open at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan.
How to Train Your Dragon-Isle of Berk will be set in a viking village and feature a roller coaster and a live show with flying dragons.
Dark Universe will features attractions based on Universal’s roster of classic monsters, including Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, which will put riders in the middle a monster revolt.
Ministry of Magic, the third Wizarding World at Universal Orlando, will let visitors travel between 1920s Paris and 1990s-set British Ministry of Magic.
First announced in August of 2019, Epic Universe is located on a 750-acre site near the Orange County Convention Center, just a few miles southeast of the main Universal Orlando campus.
