Universal Orlando reveals new Harry Potter land for Epic Universe

Concept art for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic (Universal)

Universal Orlando has conjured up new details for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, the themed land slated to open at forthcoming Epic Universe theme park in 2025.

The Harry Potter land will use elements from the “Fantastic Beasts” and “Harry Potter” films, featuring a setting that mixes both “wizarding Paris” and the British Ministry of Magic.

After traveling through the portal into the land, visitors will be transported to 1920’s set Place Cachee, which Universal describes as “a hidden, bustling shopping district in wizarding Paris” that’s filed with shops and sidewalk cafes.

The land’s main attraction will be Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. It will transport visitors across space and time from 1920s Paris to 1990s London through the magical “Metro-Floo” to trial of Dolores Umbridge. When Umbridge tries to escape, it’s up to Harry, Ron, Hermione and a house elf named Higgledy to chase after her.

Visitors will board “omni-directional lifts” that will take the up, down, foward, backward and sideways” as they dodge attacks from Death Eaters and other creatures along the way.

The land will also feature “Le Cirque Arcanus,” a theater show with live performers, aerialists, puppetry and special effects. The story will follow Ringmaster Skender, who has stolen Newt Scamander’s suitcase (with its magical creatures) to restore the failing Le Cirque Arcanus to its former glory.

Universal says there will be multiple themed dining and retail experiences through the land. Cafe L’Air de la Sirene will serve French sandwiches, plats du jour and desserts. At Le Gobelet Noir, visitors will find a menu of soups, salads and “a variety of entries.”

Bar Moonshine will an American-themed sports bar serving exclusive beers, wines and cocktails amid U.S. Quidditch team pennants. Meanwhile, visitors can get Buttterbee at the Bieraurbeurre cart.

For souvenirs, there’s Les Galeries Mirifiques, the K. Rammelle confectionary and Tour En Floo gift shop.

As visitors explore the land, they’ll encounter a variety of residents from the wizarding world, including exchange students from Hogwarts and Ilvermorny Schools of Witchcraft and Wizardry, an Auror from the French Ministry of Magical Affairs and talking portraits of wizards.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic is the fifth land to be revealed for Epic Universe, which will also include Celestial Park, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe.
