Disney World has temporarily closed Test Track at EPCOT to begin a redesign of the popular attraction.
The last full day of operation for the current version of the ride, nicknamed Test Track 2.0, was Sunday.
At its Destination D23 event in September, Disney announced plans to update the attraction. For the new version—the third iteration of the ride—Imagineers and teams from Chrevolet will take inspiration from the original World of Motion attraction that Test Track replaced.
Disney previously released concept art for the reimagining, with images showing a new entrance and a new look for scenes along the track.
Test Track opened at EPCOT in 1999. At the time, the attraction took riders through a General Motors testing facility, with the ride vehicles going through a series of simulations to show how concept cars are evaluated. At the end, the vehicles would take riders on a high-speed test run around the outside of the building. In 2012, the attraction underwent its first retheme with the new concept focusing on the Chrevolet brand. As part of the update, visitors were given the chance to design their ride vehicles while waiting in the queue.
Disney has not yet announced when Test Track will reopen.
