United Parks & Resorts (formerly SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc.) has quietly pushed back the opening timelines for two new coasters at its Florida theme parks.
SeaWorld Orlando’s Penguin Trek and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s Phoenix Rising, both originally set to open this spring, are now poised to debut this summer.
So far the company hasn’t announced an exact opening date for either attraction, but all mentions of a “spring” opening have been removed from the rides’ pages on both the SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens websites.
On the SeaWorld site, Penguin Trek is listed as “coming in 2024,” while Busch Gardens lists Phoenix Rising as “coming soon.”
Penguin Trek will be a family-friendly indoor-outdoor coaster that takes riders on a research mission through the Antarctica wilderness. The ride will feature vehicles designed to look like snowmobiles and reach a top speed of 43 mph.
Busch Gardens’ family-friendly Phoenix Rising will be a suspended coaster that reaches a top speed of 44 miles per hour.
The SeaWorld parks are currently celebrating the company’s 60th anniversary with new activities. At SeaWorld Orlando, there’s a new parade and a new cirque-style show.
