Disney’s new drone show lights up the night sky

A new high-tech drone show is the latest draw at Disney World, but you won’t find it at one of the theme parks.

“Disney Dreams That Soar” is a nightly production with 800 drones lighting up the night sky over Disney Springs—the resort’s shopping and dining complex.

During the nearly 10-minute show, visitors will be treated to a spectacle of lights, images of Disney characters and inspirational music.

The drones form characters and moments from movies and including Dumbo, Guardians of the Guardians, the house from Pixar’s “Up” and Wall-E.

Disney suggests watching the show along the waterway on Disney Springs’ West Side between the Cirque du Soleil theater and the Aerophile balloon ride. One of the best viewing spots is right behind Summer House on the Lake.

“Disney Dreams That Soar” runs nightly (weather permitting) through Sept. 2. The current showtimes are 9 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. each night. If trying for the first show of the night, get to Disney Springs early. The second show is less busy if you’re willing to stay later.
