Disney World will debut two stage shows at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in May.
“The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” will both open on May 27, Disney announced Wednesday.
The reimagined “Little Mermaid” show replaces “Voyage of the Little Mermaid,” which shutdown during the pandemic and never reopened.

Disney has said the new production will still be inspired by the 1989 animated film and feature new sets, puppets and digital effects. It will also feature additional musical numbers that weren’t included in the previous show: “Daughters of Triton” and “Kiss the Girl.”
The theater in Animation Courtyard is also being refreshed for the new show.

Over in the Sunset Showcase building next to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is where the new villains show will be.
This musical show will feature characters such as Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, Maleficent and others. The theater will be updated to depict the “mysterious, reflective realm of the magic mirror” with the evil doers trying to break through the glass to tell their side of the story.
“Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” replaces Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, which closed last fall.
The shows are the latest updates coming to the Hollywood Studios. The park is also getting a new land inspired by “Monsters, Inc.” Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will also be rethemed to feature The Muppets.
