Three young lions have joined the savanna at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Disney World shared photos of the 2-year-old siblings which are named Mshango, Zahara and Neema.
Park visitors might be able to spot the trio on Kilimanjaro Safaris, where Disney says the lions have already starting showing “their playful and cub-like spirit.”
Their arrival comes weeks after Disney announced that Dakari and Kamari, lions who had been at the park for the last 10 years, would be retiring to a another conservation haven in Florida.
The young lions represent an important part of preserving the lion population as they could breed with members of another pride as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan.
Disney also announced Thursday that it was relaunching its “Protect the Pride” conservation campaign to support the Wildlife Conservation Network’s Lion Recovery Fund, which is working with partners in Africa to double the number of lions in the wild by 2050.
Disney also has a new “Lion King” movie coming out. Directed by Barry Jenkins (“Moonlight”), “Mufasa: The Lion King” tells the origin story of the legendary lion. The voice cast includes Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr, Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, Thandiwe Newton, Beyonce Knowles-Carter and Blue Ivy Carter.
“Mufasa: The Lion King” arrives in theaters on Dec. 20.
