Danny Elfman composing music for Universal’s Dark Universe land

Danny Elfman revealed Monday that he is composeing music for Dark Universe, the monster-themed land at Universal’s Epic Universe theme park.

The famed composer—known for his work on films and TV shows such as “Beetlejuice,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Batman: The Animated Series”— shared the news in an Instagram Story posted on his official Instagram account

“The Universal Monsters have always been such a big part of my life,” Elfman wrote. “I’m grateful and honored to have been chose to compose the music for the new Dark Universe in @universalorlando. I can’t wait to go!!!”

Late last week, Universal shared new details about Dark Universe, including the attractions, dining and character experiences. The resort also released an animated fly-through video of the land that featured music that sounds very much in Elfman’s signature style. Listen for yourself below.

It’s unclear how Elfman’s music will be used in the land and where. It could be used as background music playing throughout the land or featured in one of the land’s two attractions—Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment, a dark ride featuring various monsters; and Curse of the Werewolf, a spinning roller coaster inspired by “The Wolf Man.”

So far, Universal has revealed details for four of the lands in Epic Universe, including Celestial Park, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe. Universal has not yet released details about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic.

Epic Universe is set to open next year.
