Blue Man Group is bringing its unique brand of entertainment back to Orlando.
The group will be settling into a new home at ICON Park later this year, the entertainment complex announced Thursday.
Performances will be held inside a new 500-seat theater that will be equipped with state-of-the-art acoustics, lighting and video capabilities.
The show’s location, which still in the development and planning stage, will be located on the Universal Boulevard side of ICON Park.The goal is open in late 2024.
“There is no greater world-stage than Orlando for exciting family fun, making it a natural choice as a home base for Blue Man Group,” Jack Kenn, managing director of Blue Man Group, said in a news release. “Our fans are eager for the Blue Men to be part of their Orlando vacations, and our creative team is thrilled to create a new type of experience that is even more immersive and personalized to Orlando.”
Blue Man Group left Orlando in 2021 when its show at Universal Orlando’ CityWalk closed after a 14-year run.
Blue Man Group performances combine music, art and humor and feature a trio of blue-painted performers. Formed in New York City in the 1980s, Blue Man Group has since expanded to permanent residencies in other such as Boston, Chicago and Las Vegas.
The brand was purchased by Cirque du Soleil Entertainment in 2017.
