We’re truly almost there!
For those who have been patiently waiting for Disney World to reveal an opening date for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, well your wish has been granted.
The attraction will officially open at Magic Kingdom on June 28. Cue the song “Almost There.”
The official reveal was made during “American Idol” on Sunday night, although the date dropped earlier in the day thanks to a premature news release. It was posted to the official Disney World news site and then disappeared before you could say “going down the bayou.”
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure replaces Splash Mountain, which closed in January 2023. The new attraction is inspired by the Disney animated film, “The Princess and The Frog.” Visitors will see familiar characters as well as dozens of new critters as they help Tiana and her jazz-loving alligator pal Louis prepare for a Mardi Gras celebration.
Disney has already shared tons of details about this attraction. Like a lot. For instance, the ride will feature dozens of advanced animatronic figures. (Disney shared a peek at some of them in early April.) The soundtrack will feature music created by PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard as well as sounds found in New Orleans like Zydeco and Afro-Cuban music. And visitors can look forward to a “thrilling” 50-foot drop during their ride.
Disney World will offer previews to cast members, annual passholders and Disney Vacation Club members ahead of the official debut of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The details will be shared on May 14.
And finally, Disneyland is getting its own version of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but that one’s not expected to open until sometime “later this year.” So West Coast fans have to wait a little longer.
