Disney World to roll out new skip-the-line pass

Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom. (Theme Park Decoder)

Disney World is launching a new paid option for visitors to skip-the-line at attractions at its theme parks.

The Lightning Lane Premier Pass, debuting October 30, will allow visitors to enter every Lightning Lane entrance at the park for the day.

The new premium option will includes one-time entry to every attraction that offers Lightning Lane for one day. Visitors can use the entrances when they want and will not need to book a return time in advance.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be offered alongside the current Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass options, which were rolled out this summer.

The new pass will be offered in limited quantities, and, at launch, will only be available to visitors staying in deluxe and deluxe villa resort hotels.

Prices for the Lightning Lane Premier Pass will vary depending on the park and the day. It will cost between $129 and $449, more than a park ticket. The pass can be purchased up to seven days in advance of hotel stays.

Disney will also roll out a version of Lightning Lane Premier Pass at Disneyland on October 23.  Unlike at Disney World, Disneyland’s pass won’t only be available to visitors staying in high-end hotels. It will be open to all visitors on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Disneyland’s pass will also include Lightning Lane access at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. It will cost $400 per person at launch but switch to dynamic pricing ranging from $300 to $400 per person next year.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass will be an offering more similar to the Express Pass offered at Universal’s theme parks. At Universal Orlando, the Express pass ranges from $90 to $290 for one-time access at eligible attractions or from $120 to $320 for unlimited access.

Disney has not mentioned any plans to offer an unlimited option with the Lightning Lane Premier Pass.
